before i start writing about my silly, oftentimes stupid, experiences....i wanted to take some time to remember today.
on the morning of september 11, 2001, i was dropping off blueprints at the fairfax county government's office building in chantilly. i walked back to my car, put on my seatbelt and tuned into WPGC for some music on my way to the office. i only heard a snippet before the DJ cut the music and began reporting on the attacks on the WTC.
what?
at first, i didn't believe it, choosing to turn off the radio. but the situation was too severe for me to ignore it. i turned it back on and listened all the way back to the office. i hadn't drove that fast since my last ticket. i was the first one in. will followed and when he walked in the door i didn't even know what to say.
what is going on?
then the attack on the pentagon happened and things went from bad to worse. i didn't know anyone in New York at the time, but I knew plenty of people who lived near the pentagon, worked at the pentagon.
what
was
going
on?
i went home early that day (after finally being let out of the building. that day, it seemed like everyone was locked in for their own safety, even in the days following) and waited on G and M to get home. i watched the news for as long as i could take it, but eventually turned it off. it was just too much. it is hard to believe that was seven years ago.
so today, i
remember
mourn
and pray.
