I made a rule this year. NO FLIP-FLOPS AT WORK!
I'll admit I've done it in the past. What? I've been lucky enough to work for companies with very youthful cultures. I realized, though, no matter how nice the pedicure, no matter how nice the flip-flops (or how much they don't look like flip-flops), they shouldn't be worn at work. Save them for the weekend. Flats or nice sandals are an easy and inexpensive compromise.
